Prior to joining CPCS, Elana Fogel received her J.D. from New York University School of Law, where she was awarded the Root-Tilden-Kern Lindemann Family Public Service Scholarship. While in law school, Elana completed the Criminal & Community Defense Clinic, through which she worked at the Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem, as well as the Children’s Rights Clinic, wherein she assisted juvenile clients in delinquency and child welfare cases. Elana has also worked on the American Civil Liberties Union’s Initiative to Combat Mass Incarceration as an advocate for nationwide criminal justice policy reform, and at the Bronx Defenders, where she provided indigent clients with criminal defense and immigration support. Elana also holds a Bachelor’s degree from NYU, where she was a member of the women’s basketball team.
