Symposium: The Harm of Removal to Children, Parents, and Communities

The Sayra and Neil Meyerhoff Center for Families, Children and Courts (CFCC) will be holding their annual symposium on the topic of The Harm of Removal to Children, Parents, and Communities at the University of Baltimore School of Law this September 27, 2023. This symposium is FREE and will be held IN-PERSON at UBSL with keynote speaker Sixto Cancel, founder and CEO of Think of Us, Think of You, a research and design lab driving systemic change in child welfare practice. Other panelists include Angela Burton, former top advisor to the New York state court system in the Office for Justice Initiatives, and Alan Dettlaff, former dean of the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work.

 

This all-day symposium will focus on the history of family separation and the current day practices that cause trauma and harm to both children and parents before collectively brainstorming how to keep families intact and support their health and well-being.
