Topic: Overview of Finances in Conservatorships: Inventory, Accounting,
Experts, and Reporting
Hour Two
Presenters: Faculty
Topic: Conservatorship finances hypotheticals in small groups
Program Description:
A two-hour virtual, interactive program that explores a number of reporting and
accounting issues typically seen by Respondent’s counsel appointed to
Conservatorships followed by small group break-out sessions in which
participants will discuss/solve hypothetical scenarios. Particular attention will be
paid to the reporting duties of the conservator and the temporary conservator,
what client assets are accessible and to whom, how does your client’s home
factor into the math, and when does divorce become a legal strategy.
At the conclusion of this training participants will be able to:
—understand conservatorship financial reporting responsibilities
—appreciate the impact on Respondent and how counsel can best protect client
—recognize when there is a need to hire forensic accountants and other experts
— use the statutes and recent cases to improve your client’s legal position.
